Privacy Policy & Data Confidentiality

Your data is information our clients trust us with. We treat it that way.

This is our full Privacy Policy and Data Confidentiality Pledge, written in plain English and aligned with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023. The summary below tells you the most important parts in 60 seconds; the full policy follows underneath.

Last updated: 1 May 2026

The plain-English version
01
We collect only what we need.

Your name, contact details, location preferences, and (if you subscribe) payment information. Nothing more. If we ever ask for sensitive financial data — income, KYC documents — it’s because the mortgage advisory you asked for requires it.

02
We never sell your data. Ever.

Not to developers. Not to banks. Not to advertising networks. Your data is not a product we monetise.

03
We only share when you ask us to.

If we’re helping you with a specific mortgage application, we share documents with the lender you chose. That’s it. Everything else stays inside our team.

04
We protect it seriously.

Encrypted storage, access controls, regular audits. Our standards meet or exceed the NDPA’s requirements.

05
You have rights. We make them easy to use.

Want a copy of everything we have on you? Want it deleted? Want to correct something? Email privacy@myrealtyadvisory.info and we’ll handle it within 30 days.

06
Your discussions with us are confidential.

What you tell a Trusted Advisor about your income, your portfolio, your family situation — that stays with the advisor who needs to know. It is never used in marketing, never shared with third parties, and never discussed outside our advisory team.

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy applies to MyRealtyAdvisory (“we”, “us”, “our”), an independent realty and mortgage advisory platform operating in Nigeria and serving Nigerian clients in Nigeria and the diaspora. Our registered business address is [Street address, Lagos State, Nigeria]. For any privacy-related question, write to our Data Protection Officer at privacy@myrealtyadvisory.info.

2. What data we collect

We collect personal data in the following categories:

  • Identity data — name, date of birth (when required for KYC), nationality, ID document numbers.
  • Contact data — email address, phone number, postal/residential address, country of residence.
  • Financial data — income range, employment status, RSA/NHF contribution status, payment method (for paid subscriptions only).
  • Preference data — locations of interest, property type preferences, communication preferences.
  • Usage data — pages visited, content downloaded, links clicked. Collected anonymously through standard analytics.
  • Transaction-specific data — when you engage us for mortgage advisory on a specific application, we collect the documents required for that application (payslips, bank statements, employment letters, ID).

3. How we collect it

We collect data only through methods you explicitly initiate: forms you fill in, emails you send, calls you book, downloads you request, and subscriptions you start. We never buy personal data, scrape it, or obtain it from third-party data brokers.

4. Why we use it

We use your personal data for these purposes, and only these purposes:

  • To deliver the service you asked for — whether that’s a Discovery Call, a property review, or an Advisory subscription.
  • To send you the content you signed up for, such as the Sunday Briefing or our lead-magnet downloads.
  • To process payments for paid subscriptions, via PCI-compliant payment processors.
  • To improve our service — using aggregated, anonymised data only.
  • To comply with legal and regulatory obligations under Nigerian law.

5. What we never do with it

We never sell, rent, or licence your personal data to third parties. We never use your data for purposes outside of the service you asked us for. We never share your data with developers, banks, or other property-industry counterparties without your explicit instruction. We never include personally identifying information in marketing material or case studies without your written consent.

6. Who we share it with

We share data only in these narrow circumstances:

  • Service providers we use to operate the platform — payment processors, email delivery, secure cloud storage. All bound by data-processing agreements.
  • Lenders or counterparties — only when, and only because, you have instructed us to support a specific mortgage application or property transaction.
  • Legal and regulatory authorities — only when legally compelled, and only the minimum data necessary to comply.

7. International data transfers

Some of our service providers (email, cloud storage) operate outside Nigeria. Where we transfer data internationally, we ensure recipient providers meet equivalent data-protection standards to the NDPA, through contractual safeguards or by selecting providers compliant with recognised international frameworks.

8. How long we keep it

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the service or comply with legal obligations. As a rule of thumb: active subscribers’ data is retained for the duration of the subscription plus 7 years thereafter (for regulatory and audit purposes). Free Sunday Briefing subscribers’ data is retained until you unsubscribe. Discovery Call records are retained for 2 years. Transaction-specific documents are retained for 7 years post-transaction.

9. How we protect it

We implement security measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data we hold. These include encrypted storage, encrypted transmission, role-based access controls, multi-factor authentication for staff, regular security audits, and staff training. No internet-connected system is perfectly secure — but the controls we apply are designed to reduce risk to a level we’d accept for our own families.

10. Your rights under the NDPA

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023, you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold on you.
  • Rectification — correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure — request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements).
  • Restriction — limit how we process your data.
  • Portability — receive your data in a portable format.
  • Objection — object to specific processing activities, including direct marketing.
  • Withdraw consent — where we rely on your consent to process data.
  • Lodge a complaint — with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) if you believe we have mishandled your data.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@myrealtyadvisory.info. We respond within 30 days.

11. Cookies and analytics

We use a minimal set of cookies: a session cookie for logged-in members, a consent cookie to remember your cookie preferences, and anonymised analytics cookies. We don’t use third-party advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or behavioural tracking. You can disable cookies entirely in your browser settings without affecting most of the site.

12. Children

Our services are designed for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, contact us at privacy@myrealtyadvisory.info and we will delete it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally as our service evolves or as the law changes. Material changes will be communicated to subscribers by email at least 14 days before they take effect. The “last updated” date at the top of this page always shows when the current version came into force.

14. Contact our Data Protection Officer

For any privacy or data question:

  • Email: privacy@myrealtyadvisory.info
  • Post: The Data Protection Officer, MyRealtyAdvisory, [Street address, Lagos State, Nigeria]

If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) at ndpc.gov.ng.

Our pledge to you

The Data Confidentiality Pledge.

Beyond what the law requires, we commit to the following: your conversations with a Trusted Advisor are professionally confidential. What you tell us about your income, your portfolio, your goals, and your family situation stays with the advisors who need to know. It is never used in marketing, never shared with anyone outside our advisory team, and never discussed in ways that could identify you to anyone outside that team. This is the standard our most trusted professionals — doctors, lawyers, bankers — hold themselves to, and it is the standard we hold ourselves to.

— The MyRealtyAdvisory Team
